I grew up in Edmonton, AB, training competitively from a young age in various styles of dance - jazz, tap, ballet, and contemporary. I further developed a love of dance, technique, and diverse choreography through the dance program at Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts from grades 8-12.
Taking a break from dance, I then completed a general Bachelor of Arts degree at Taylor University College and Seminary, and then found my calling after working in out-of-school care and as a nanny— I wanted to better understand the youngest children! In New Jersey, USA, I completed an Early Childhood Education diploma and business certificate, then moved back to Canada to begin my career in Early Learning. While working as a licensed Day Home Educator, in 2016 I began dancing and competing again in adult classes! At the same time, my oldest daughter started preschool dance classes and I was smitten with her enthusiasm and energy toward movement and rhythm. I decided to combine my knowledge and experience with young children with my love of dance!
With 21 years experience in working with young children, and having three of my own kids, I continually look for opportunities to learn more about trends, Early Education strategies, and learning methods. Having attained the Intellidance® Certification, I am excited to bring my skills and passion to share music and dance with little ones, and aim to provide developmentally appropriate and exciting programming to families and young children!
